Arid West Texas is known for its low rainfall which makes conserving rainfall critical for cotton production. According to Barry Evans a producer in Kress, Texas any moisture lost can not be replaced so he has modified his production practices to improve the water use efficiency on his farm.
Evans also uses a sprinkler irrigation system with a low energy precision application.
Evans says his goal is to get more pounds of cotton out of every acre inch of water.
