Webb Elected 2012 Cotton Council International President
James L. “Jimmy” Webb, a Leary, GA, cotton producer, will serve as the 2012 president of Cotton Council International.
 
Coley to Lead the National Cotton Council in 2012
C.B. “Chuck” Coley, a Vienna, GA, producer/ginner, was elected NCC chairman for 2012.
 
Sharp Elected American Cotton Producers Chair
Clyde Sharp, a Roll, AZ, cotton producer, was elected as chairman of the American Cotton Producers (ACP) of the National Cotton Council for 2012, during the NCC’s annual meeting on February 10-12 in Fort Worth.
 
Cotton Achievement Award Honors Billy Carter
The late W.L. “Billy” Carter, Jr., who served as the North Carolina Cotton Producers Association’s executive vice president and was a former American Cotton Producers chairman, is the recipient of the 2011 Oscar Johnston Lifetime Achievement Award.
 
Cotton Service Award Honors Neal Gillen
Neal Gillen, the former executive vice president and general counsel of the American Cotton Shippers Association, is the recipient of the 2011 Harry S. Baker Distinguished Service Award.
 
Californian Recipient of National Ginner Award
Stan Creelman, a Tulare, CA, ginner, was named the 2011 Horace Hayden National Cotton Ginner of the Year.

NCC economists say cotton’s '12 outlook will be influenced primarily by China’s national reserves stocks, uncertainty over the general economy and weather developments in the southwestern United States.

US cotton producers intend to plant 13.63 million acres of cotton this spring, down 7.5% from '11, according to the NCC’s 29th Annual Early Season Planting Intentions Survey.
